Carmex UK invited me to be part of their "Your Lips, Your Story" campaign — a brand activation held at Spring Restaurant, Somerset House, London. The concept was simple and powerful: guests would have their name and the hashtag #WithMyCarmex engraved live onto Carmex lip tins, turning an everyday product into a personal keepsake.
The event was attended by Love Island stars Arabella Chi and Samie Elishi, which brought an extra buzz to the room — cameras, content, and a queue of guests all wanting their own personalised tin.
The Challenge
Engraving on curved metal surfaces requires a very different approach to flat items. Carmex lip tins are small and round, which means any inconsistency in pressure or angle shows immediately. Getting the depth right on a curved surface — while keeping the lettering clean and legible — demanded precision throughout the session.
Practising on the tins in advance was essential. I worked to find the exact settings and hand position that would deliver clean, consistent results regardless of where on the lid the lettering landed.
The Result
Guests left with something they genuinely wanted to keep — a personalised Carmex tin with their name on it. The activation generated strong social media content, with attendees sharing their tins across Instagram and TikTok, tagging both Carmex and the #WithMyCarmex hashtag.
For Carmex, the live engraving element turned a product giveaway into a brand moment. The combination of a beautiful setting, a well-known product, and the theatre of watching it be personalised in real time created exactly the kind of engagement and brand love they were looking for.
