How Carmex’s Campaign Boosted Engagement and Brand Love

To bring Carmex’s message of self-expression to life, I personalised lip tins by engraving guests’ names and the hashtag #WithMyCarmex — a simple touch that turned giveaways into lasting souvenirs.

Brand Activation for Carmex UK – “Your Lips, Your Story” 💛❤️ Live engraving

When Carmex UK invited me to collaborate on their “Your Lips, Your Story” campaign, I knew it would be a truly special project. Known for their iconic lip care products and bold personality, the brand hosted a vibrant, interactive activation in the heart of Central London — and I was brought in to add a personalised touch to their limited edition lip tins through live engraving.

The Brief

Carmex wanted to create an engaging and memorable experience that would resonate with guests and align with their message of self-expression. The activation centred around the theme “Your Lips, Your Story”, and featured a bold colour palette of their signature yellow and red.

My role was to engrave the guests’ names with the hashtag #WithMyCarmex on the lip tins — turning them into meaningful keepsakes. This kind of personalisation adds an intimate, interactive layer to brand activations and gives attendees something special, that they’ll use and remember.

The Set-Up

📍 Location: Spring Restaurant, Somerset House, London
From the moment guests walked in, they were immersed in the bold spirit of Carmex — and the engraving booth was a real focal point.
The event space was transformed into a playful, vibrant Carmex world — flowers, balloons, and my engraving station nestled in a corner.

Guest Experience

The event drew an energetic and diverse crowd of influencers, with some former Love Island Stars present, such as Arabella Chi and Samie Elishi.

Guests were gifted the iconic Carmex products and could then select a custom engraving on the tin. Most of them opted to have their names engraved.

Each engraving took just a few minutes, and in that short time, I was able to connect one-on-one with guests, answer questions about the process, and share a little of the magic that happens when functional objects become personal.

Challenges & Highlights

Engraving on metal tins is no small feat. The lips shape, ondular surface and limited engraving area meant precision was key. I always start with a draft before going ahead with the engraving, to make sure everything is perfect: the calligraphy, the spacing and position of the engraving.

One of the challenges with live engraving at events is working quickly without compromising on detail — especially when there’s a queue of excited guests waiting!

Another highlight was how organically guests shared their engraved products on social media. The hashtags #WithMyCarmex and #YourLipsYourStory started popping up across Instagram and TikTok within minutes — a great reminder of how personalisation helps boost organic brand engagement.

Final Thoughts

Collaborating with Carmex UK on this event was a joyful, high-energy experience. Their team brought such creativity and care to every detail, and I was honoured to contribute something meaningful to the activation.

As always, my favourite part was seeing people’s reactions — the way someone’s face lights up when they see their name engraved. It is truly a privilege to do this job.

Thinking of adding live engraving to your next event? Whether it’s a product launch, brand activation or private gathering, I’d love to help you create something truly unforgettable.
